The IBEW Local 583 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) mission is to educate our members to insure we are providing the Electrical Industry with the most highly trained and highly skilled workforce possible. Skill, Knowledge, and Attitude are the main focus of our training program.

A career in the electrical industry can be both demanding and highly rewarding. With excellent wages and benefits available, there are great opportunities for those who work hard and have the right attitude. With the ever changing technology, today’s electricians are faced with more and more challenges, both physical and mental. To stay on top, the JATC provides the best training programs to keep our members the best in the craft.

Our apprenticeship program is truly the best in the industry! The program is a five year apprenticeship consisting of on-the-job, classroom, and hands on lab training. Selected applicants will learn while they earn. Apprentices are assigned to electrical contractors working along side journeyman electricians. They are paid excellent wages and benefits while they compile hour’s on-the-job training.

In addition to receiving skill training on the job, our apprentices are provided trade related classroom training that produces competency and pride that lead to true craftsmanship. Each apprentice completes a minimum of 1,000 hours of classroom training. As noted, there are also hands on lab training on such areas as conduit bending, motor control, and DC/AC theory.

All of the training is conducted by our own highly trained instructors. The instructors are all members of the IBEW and possess many years of experience and expertise in the electrical industry.

The IBEW Local 583 apprenticeship presents a great opportunity for those interested in a career in the electrical industry. After five years of excellent training, most apprentices advance to journeyman wireman status and enjoy a profitable and rewarding career.
